Seventh Street Elementary » Title I Information
Seventh Street Elementary School Title I Involvement Policy Seventh Street Elementary School encourages participation of the entire school community to insure progress for all students. This would include administrators, teachers, educational assistants, parents, and students.
At the beginning of the school year, parents will be informed by letter/newsletter/district website that Seventh Street is a Title I school wide building. This information will describe how children have access to Title I services. Students in Grades 3-5 will receive regular updates with their report cards on each distribution date. After the first nine weeks, teacher schedule a parent conference for all students. Additional conferences are scheduled by the teacher at the parent's request or after an ESAP referral. These conferences are held in the morning, during the school day, in the evening, or another mutual time agreed upon by the teacher and parents. Phone conferences and home visits are also encouraged.
The Title I Parent Coordinator and the Title I staff will provide parent meetings that address topics of interest to parents: i.e. homework, tips, hands on learning, family bookmaking, reading nights, story telling, PSSA information, etc. Materials will be provided for home use at these meetings. (Periodically, the Title I Parents Coordinator, reading specialists, and educational assistants will send home materials for parents to use with their children to reinforce reading and math skills.) During these gatherings, parents will be informed of Title I changes. All meeting notices will be sent out in a timely fashion and every effort will be made for translation or written translations for English as a second language participants. Title I funding can be used for transportation and child care so parents can attend the information nights.
Surveys will be sent home in the spring so parents can be involved in the planning and review of the school's parent involvement policy. An annual meeting will be held in the spring to fully explain the Title I program, its requirements, and how important parents are to the success of their child.
The district, in conjunction with Title I, will provide information sessions so parents become familiar with the state standards, assessments to be given, and how they can work with their child to insure academic success.
Seventh Street Elementary School realizes that the parent school connection is vital for the well rounded success of all children. Ongoing communication between teachers and parents is encouraged to insure life long learners.
