 Seventh Street Elementary - Guidance Information

Mrs. Correa is the School Counselor at Seventh Street Elementary School.  She works with all students in grades 3 - 5.  The following is a list of guidance services provided to Seventh Street students:

individual counseling - used to relieve and reduce personal problems that may be blocking a student's learning.  Any student is welcome to visit the counselor at any time throughout the school year at his/her own request,  the request of a teacher/principal or a parent/guardian. 

small group counseling - groups are formed throughout the  year at the counselor's discretion based on need.  Groups typically meet for 20-30 minutes and are held at a time when students will miss the least amount of direct instructional time.  Students will never be pulled from Reading, Math or specials. 

classroom guidance lessons - lessons are provided based on the request of a teacher.  They may be on-going or provided to address a certain topic or incident. 

social skills lunch bunches - some students need extra practice developing certain skills such as friendship making, manners, requesting/asking permission, peer relationships, or communication.  During lunch we work on these skills in a fun and relaxed environment. 

new student lunch dates - just for our "new kids on the block."  every new student is invited to eat lunch with the counselor at the beginning of the year for a new student meet and greet.  This activity takes place during the student's regularly scheduled lunch time. 

middle school transition - *for 5th grade only.*  In the spring we will make a special trip to the middle school to eat lunch and take a tour with student guides. 

Mrs. Correa is also a part of the Seventh Street eSAP (Elementary Student Assistance Program) Team.  Also on this team are the principal, a school pyschologist, and two teachers. 

Mrs. Correa is at Seventh Street on Monday afternoons and Wednesdays.  If you need to speak with the counselor at any other time, please contact the Seventh Street Office and the secretary will direct you to her.
